Bonaire Dutch Antilles, near Venezuela

FIG. 1 view of the Bonaire venue at Lac bay--note the shallowness of the
water making it ideal for beginners--the venue is on the windward side of the
island, but the reef in the background breaks the ocean waves enabling one to
experience an uninterrupted wind without the waves in a shallow environment

Jibe City Bonaire Windsurf Place
How to book a flight: Use Orbitz and use BON as destination
Comments: Bonaire by far has the conditions that are most beginner friendly. When it is windy, the wind is steady and good to learn new stuff. However crime can be a problem. I have also found that much of the Bonaire windsurf venue is plagued with too shallow water where your fin runs aground often. Also, finding a good flight can be difficult.

to an area within the reef

Other things to do--Bonaire offers other activities for that day off from windsurfing, including snorkeling, diving, touring the park. Bonaire has one of the best diving and snorkeling waters in the world, with the clear blue water and the colorful fish, even just off the shore in downtown Kralendijk (pronounced car-en-daay-k, meaning coral)
