The Hereford Inlet launch is at the north end of the village of North
Wildwood (aka Anglesea) in extreme southern NJ.  Hereford inlet provides
the sailor access to the inlet and the ocean without having to deal with
breaking waves at the beach.  Permit holders of 4WD vehicles can drive
right out onto a huge beach and launch next to their vehicles.  Hereford
Inlet provides a challenging environment for the windsurfer and is thus
for advanced sailors only due to the currents and boat traffic.
Nevertheless, Hereford Inlet has some of the best waves in NJ.

Directions -- From the North, take exit 6 off the GSP and follow signs
for NJ Rt 147 E towards N. Wildwood.  After traveling about 4 miles,
and after entering N Wildwood, turn left onto 2nd Ave.  Travel 0.5
miles on 2nd Ave and reach the intersection with Ocean Ave.  The beach
access ramp is located here.

From Cape May, exit the GSP at exit 4, get on NJ 47 South towards the
Wildwoods.  After traveling 2.8 miles, turn left onto New Jersey Ave and
travel north for about 2.3 miles and make a right onto 2nd Ave.
Travel 0.5 miles to intersection with Ocean Ave where the beach
access ramp is located.

The beach access for 4WD permit holders is within Hereford Inlet Park
across the street from the Athens II Motor Inn at the intersection of
Ocean Ave and 2nd Ave.

For those without a 4WD and without a permit, a parking lot is located
nearby at the corner of Olde NJ Ave and Spruce Ave.  This lot is metered
from May 15 til the last weekend of Oct.  There are staircases located
throughout the seawall for you to carry your gear to the beach.  By
parking further inland, the distance to the beach is shortened.

Best Wind Directions:  E, NE, N  SW works OK too

Hazards:  Strong Currents, motor boat traffic.
