The Hogge's Landing launch area is at the end of Va Rt 653
(Kings Creek Road) in Gloucester county.  The launch faces NE
into the mouth of the Severn River into Mobjack Bay.  The
launch is great in that you feel left alone, there are no long
list of rules, no no trespassing/private property signs, no cops
and you do not feel like you are on display.  However, at least
on the dry land, the launch is like a war zone in that there
is tons of broken glass, some construction debris, tires, and
other garbage present.

Directions:  From the U.S. 17 toll bridge over the York river,
travel 2 miles north on U.S. 17 to the 4th traffic light for
VA Rt 216 Guinea Rd at a KFC.  Turn right so that you are
headed East on Rt 216.  3.6 miles East of U.S. 17, Guinea Rd
becomes Kings Creek Road in the village of Archilles.
Continue straight on Kings Creek Road.  After 1.5 miles on
Kings Creek Road, the main road takes a turn to the right
where a smaller road appears straight ahead.  Go onto
this smaller road and leave the main road behind.  This
smaller road becomes unpaved in about 0.75 miles and in
another 0.25 miles, the road ends at the water.  This launch
is a total of about 8 miles from the toll bridge.

Good Wind Directions: W, NW, N, NE, E, SE and maybe S

Prime Wind Directions: NNE, NE, E, SE

Fees: None

Regulations: None

Hazards: Lots of broken glass and other debris present on dry land.
 Booties are necessary

Comments:  I do not know if there is any garbage present in the
water, I did not see any.  The water appeared to have a sandy bottom.

follow the main road to the right but instead go straight onto
what looks like a very minor side road and leave the main road
behind
